Ex-Bok in stabbed robbery

A FORMER Springbok rugby player was attacked and stabbed during a fishing trip to Port Alfred at the weekend.
Police spokesman Lieutenant Luvyo Mjekula said Gerhardus Sonnekus, 61, and two friends – Bernadus Zaaiman, 63, and Andre Cleghorn, 60, all of Bloemfontein – were staying at a house in Anglers Way, Port Alfred, when four robbers confronted them at about 10pm on Saturday.
"They attacked three occupants, tied them up and fled with cellphones, alcohol and cash," he said.
The men sustained various injuries including stab wounds.
