NELSON Mandela Bay's chief financial officer, Trevor Harper, is set to get a whopping R200000 pay increase, pushing his salary up to R1.8-million a year, barely three months into the job.

The increase is on the cards after Harper argued that he should be paid more than the metro's other executive directors because the organogram for senior managers showed that he was a level higher and on a par with the chief operating officer, who earns R1.8-million.

On Friday, all the political parties approved a recommendation to increase Harper's salary. - Rochelle de Kock
