Suspect held for murder of George taxi boss

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the execution of George taxi boss Tom Queba.

Queba, 47, was found shot in the head in his taxi which was parked on the N2 between the Garden Route Mall and the Thembalethu off-ramp at about 9am on May 25. He had been a member of the George Taxi Owners' Front and, as chief negotiator for the George taxi industry, was engaged in talks with the Transport Department and municipality about the George Integrated Public Transport Network.

The network – also known as the Go-George project – aims to offer an affordable public transport system which will cover more than 25 routes. - Gareth Wilson
