Positive ways of improving climate change

NELSON Mandela Bay's Wells Estate beach was left spotless, when pupils from a number of township and northern areas schools did a massive clean up on the blue-flag beach, yielding about 80 bags of rubbish in just an hour.

About 230 pupils from 15 schools, including Uitenhage's Steven Nkomo and Little Flower primary schools, Wells Estate's Coega Primary, Motherwell's Ndyebo High and Bethelsdorp's Triomf Primary, rolled up their sleeves and gave the beach a much needed clean up.

The pupils were invited to be part of the Go Green Climate Change Advocacy Programme to commemorate World Environment Day on June 5. They were taught about the importance of looking after the environment, before hitting the shores armed with bags and gloves. - Zandile Mbabela
