Tender mix-up lands in court
By TMG Editor - 05 June 2014
TAXPAYERS might have to fork out millions in damages to a Bethelsdorp risk consultancy company after an error by the Eastern Cape Health Department led to the firm being hired and then fired.
Sizwe Risk Consulting – which had been hired as the security company for Port Elizabeth's hospitals and clinics – is now suing the department for R15-million in damages. The matter concerns a mix-up over VAT in a tender quote.
The Port Elizabeth High Court will hear an application by Sizwe Risk Consulting next week for an order compelling the department to pay the money immediately. - Estelle Ellis
