Sports council queries R36m metro soccer deal

THE R36-million deal between the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and Maritzburg United FC to play its soccer in Port Elizabeth is hanging in the balance following a meeting between the provincial ANC and sports officials.

This was revealed by the Eastern Cape Sports Council, which called for the ANC to explain how the deal was reached in the first place without consultation with the council.

Sports Council president Mkululi Magada said a decision was taken at a meeting on Monday to revisit the deal between Maritzburg and the metro.
