First specialist to treat heart rhythms in ECape

THE province's first specialist cardiologist treating abnormal heart rhythms has joined the team at Netcare Greenacres Hospital in Port Elizabeth.
Greenacres hospital manager Gloria Murison said Dr Neil Hendricks, a specialist in electrophysiology (EP), the study of irregular heart rhythms, joined the cardiac unit yesterday.
"Electrophysiology is a highly specialised field and there are just a handful of cardiologists in the South African private sector who have specialised in this field," she said.
"We are very fortunate to be working with Dr Hendricks and are privileged to be bringing this service to the Eastern Cape." - Estelle Ellis
