Sadtu firm on axing of president

WHILE Eastern Cape South African Democratic Teachers' Union (Sadtu) members rally behind their axed president, Thobile Ntola, saying he was unfairly dismissed, their national leaders say they followed due procedure but Ntola did not turn up to put forward his arguments and only responded through the media.

Ntola supporters this week stepped up their backing by setting up a bank account to help with the impending legal fees as their president prepares for a court battle.

After a mass meeting in Bloemfontein at the weekend, members decided to write to their national leaders to plead Ntola's case.

Ntola was expelled last week after being found guilty on six out of 10 charges. - Zandile Mbabela
