Many afraid of employing the disabled

NELSON Mandela Bay businesses are afraid to hire disabled people for fear of the perceived huge financial implications, while employees are afraid to disclose their disabilities in case they are discriminated against.

These were some of the topics that came out of a panel discussion on the sidelines of the Nelson Mandela Bay Investor Seminar, which saw businesses expressing their concerns about hiring people with disabilities.

Business owners also expressed their fears of not being politically correct in dealing with disabled staff. - Zandile Mbabela
