Council in move to write off R16.8m in bad debt

NELSON Mandela Bay councillors will decide tomorrow whether to write off R16.8-million in bad debt, some going as far back as 2005.
The budget and treasury portfolio committee is expected to make a decision at its meeting tomorrow before taking it to the full council for approval.
In a report to the committee, the budget and treasury directorate said all measures were taken to recover charges in arrears and that it would not be financially justifiable to incur any further legal costs. - Mkhululi Ndamase
