Bold plan to uplift Helenvale

A BOLD multimillion- rand plan is in the pipeline to transform crime-ridden Helenvale – where many lives have been lost recently due to gangsterism and safety has become a foreign term – into a peaceful paradise over the next four years.
The Port Elizabeth northern areas suburb, notorious for a range of social ills such as unemployment, drug abuse, gangsterism and domestic violence, has received a R50-million injection from a German development bank for the roll-out of the Safety and Peace through Urban Upgrading (SPUU) programme that kicked off last month. - Alvené du Plessis
