Nurses get traditional white back
By TMG Editor - 25 March 2014
THE Eastern Cape Health Department has bowed to nurses' wishes and promised to replace their pink uniforms with the traditional white one.
Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa) provincial organiser Sivuyile Sikwe said: "The decision to say we want the white uniform back is to restore the dignity of the profession."
Health MEC Sicelo Gqobana said the department would buy the new uniforms on April 1.
Health Department spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said Denosa requested the return to the white uniform as it was felt it was associated with their identity, just as the police wore blue. - Vuvu Vena
