Ramaphosa lauds reburied soldiers

TWO slain uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) soldiers, whose lives had given birth to South Africa's freedom and democracy, were praised by ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa at the weekend.

Ramaphosa was delivering the keynote address at the reburial of MK soldiers Sizakele Buzo and Fuzile Zigoxo at the Lilian Ngoyi Hall in Kwazakhele on Saturday.

Zigoxo and Buzo were two of five MK soldiers whose remains were returned home after they were killed by apartheid forces in Limpopo and Mafikeng between 1978 and 1988.

After the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, their families were given the wrong remains for burial.

But last year the families were instructed to exhume the remains for DNA testing, which identified the correct remains. - Mkhululi Ndamase
