School campaign sets up 'dipathon'

IN an effort to care for man's best friend, Pearson High School's Ecos society raised funds and teamed up with the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) for a three-hour "dipathon" in Chatty at the weekend.

About 250 dogs from the Chatty area were inoculated, de-wormed, treated for pests and sent home with food packs made possible through food collection campaigns held by Pearson High pupils.

Reaching out to the Chatty community and their animals, the Ecos society donated R5000 to cover costs of treatment and the day's dipping initiative.

AACL representative Linda-Louise Swain said the Chatty residents had responded and brought their animals. They were more than happy to wait in line for the treatment.

"There were many puppies, all playing happily. We would like to thank all those involved [including] those who donated goods and their time," she said.
