Disgraced advocate to explain court absence

A DISGRACED former Port Elizabeth advocate accused of running a pyramid scheme which saw Eastern Cape investors lose R7-million will appear in court today after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Lionel Jacobs, 58, who relocated to Cape Town after the allegations first came to light, failed to arrive at the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court – sitting in Motherwell – last week, where his fraud trial was set to resume.

Magistrate Ronel Erasmus issued a warrant for his arrest and the Hawks were ordered to probe his whereabouts. -
