Freedom Day celebrations

THE Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will spend R5-million from the city's coffers to fund the 20 Years of Freedom celebrations.
In a council supplementary agenda, which will be discussed at a special council meeting at a date that has yet to be announced, city manager Mpilo Mbambisa proposed the following budget cuts to fund the commemorations:
- Budget and Treasury – R354730;
- Public Health – R548670;
- Human Settlements – R291780;
- Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture – R133190;
- Recreation and Culture – R172110;
- Corporate Services – R316320;
- Roads and Stormwater – R128240;
- Water Services – R432570;
- Sanitation Services – R338470;
- Electricity and Energy – R1.6-million;
- Municipal Manager's office – R28060;
- Chief Operating Officer's office – R33510;
- Safety and Security – R300560;
- Infrastructure and engineering – R217260; and
