Waterkloof Two to stay in jail for now

THE Waterkloof Two will remain behind bars while the Correctional Services Department reviews their eligibility for parole. Frikkie du Preez and Christoff Becker were released on parole on Tuesday last week, along with two others, after murdering a homeless man in 2001. They were arrested on Sunday, after a cellphone video of them drinking alcohol in prison was published by the media. Du Preez and Becker would appear before their parole board, Correctional Services Minister Sibusiso Ndebele said yesterday. The two are being held at the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre, formally known as Pretoria Central Prison. Ndebele said: "Anarchy at any correctional centre will not be tolerated, and any official, or offender, found guilty of any such offence will face the full might of the law." – Katharine Child
