Church divided over who should lead them

THE feud between leaders and members of the Motherwell Presbyterian Church of Africa over who should be the presiding clergyman turned ugly yesterday when four churchgoers were arrested for allegedly intimidating the leader of one faction, Reverend George Mokabo.

About 200 members of the congregation, who are supporters of Mokabo's rival, Reverend Amos Mpulu, marched to the Ikamvelihle police station yesterday morning, asking the police to intervene and resolve the stalemate which began about five years ago.

The feud between the congregants and their respective pastors continues to shake the parish as there has not been a Sunday service for the past three weeks.
