Proof of the pudding is in eating it

THE rainy weather could not keep away the masses who flocked to the event, Taking Legislature to the People last week.

About 1000 people braved the inclement weather and packed into a tent in Humansdorp to hear their leaders speak.

Almost everyone spoken to said they attended because they could not let the opportunity slip through their fingers.Others said it was not every day they had the decision-makers of the province in their backyard.

Overall the first day of the sittings went well, judging by the comments of those who attended.

The thing with these sittings is that the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Residents listened to the various presentations and voiced their opinions, but only time will tell if the decisions taken will be implemented in future, or whether officials and MECs really listened to what the people had to say.

Recommendations were made on how to fix problems, and improve certain things contained in the various reports tabled on the day. Only time will tell if the recommendations will be implemented.

While we sit and wait our mobile clinics are still not operational, the Kouga Municipality faces a court case and overall people are disgruntled over poor service delivery.
