SHE started playing rugby when she noticed a friend lost weight after playing the sport.

Now Khaya Kondile, 18, will be travelling to London next month with the SA U20 team.

Kondile, who plays in the tight-head position for Masiphathisane High School and the Motherwell Rugby Club has the privilege and honour of flying to London to play in the Nations Cup.

She started playing for Motherwell Rugby Club in 2009 and quickly picked up the game. She was selected to play for the Eastern Province in 2010 at the age of 16.

"When I first started, I was not really into the sport, I just went there to train my body, but as time went by I started enjoying it. "From there, I got an opportunity to play for the under-20s of South Africa for which I am going to be representing our country in London," Kodile said.

She now plays for the EP first team and she is also going to Cape Town for her last camp with her Motherwell team.

"I am very happy about going to Cape Town, but I am most excited to go to London, its my first time going overseas, I am really excited about that," Kondile said.
