Two who killed girl get 25 years

THE father of a Helenvale girl who was killed by stray bullets as she was walking to church said yesterday – shortly after the two young men responsible were sentenced – that justice had prevailed.

Dillon Afrika, 20, and Eldridge Stalmeester, 24, both of Helenvale, who were convicted of murdering Jerozelle de Kock, 19, in 2011, were each sentenced to an effective 25 years’ imprisonment in the Port Elizabeth High Court yesterday.

Judge Nomathamsanqa Beshe sentenced both men to 20 years on the charge of murder, five years on the two charges of attempted murder and three years on the charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunitions.
