Bay parks no place for kids

RUSTY playground equipment, broken glass, lack of fencing and long grass are just some of the problems plaguing Nelson Mandela Bay’s parks.

Most of the playgrounds are deserted as parents prefer to take their children to indoor playing areas.

Westering Park at Van Riebeeck Street in Westering is no different. The fencing needs to be repaired and as a result people who visit the nearby pool have turned the park into a parking area. There is no sign of dustbins and people end up littering everywhere.

“This is a sad impression for Westering. The grass doesn’t get cut regularly. The park also needs some lights as it is pitch dark at night. Some people as a result are using it as a drinking spot.
