Rape survivor joins activists to urge action against abusers

BUSINESSWOMAN and rape survivor Andy Kawa has made an impassioned plea to the justice cluster to properly investigate cases and take action to end the abuse of vulnerable groups around the country.

Kawa, who was gang-raped at King’s Beach four years ago, joined a group of activists, including Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Ben Fihla, who marched from the city hall in Govan Mbeki Avenue to the Port Elizabeth High Court in Bird Street where a memorandum was handed over.

Last year, the state was forced to drop the charges against Kawa’s alleged assailants after the police said DNA evidence had failed to link the two men to the brutal 15-hour beachfront attack.
