Public meeting planned for U’hage region

A WEEK after riots over slow housing delivery flared up in Uitenhage, the ANC in Nelson Mandela Bay met with some of its branch leaders in the area yesterday to get their support as the municipality prepared to meet with the aggrieved communities today.

While a large group of residents from Rosedale, Gerald Smit and Langa townships turned up at the Allanridge Hall yesterday hoping that mayor Ben Fihla would address them and listen to their grievances, they were told to return today.

ANC regional chairman Chippa Ngcolomba, secretary Zandisile Qupe and a few councillors held a quick meeting with three ANC branch leaders – for wards 48, 49 and 50 – at the Allanridge Hall to discuss the programme for the public meetings today.
