PORT Elizabeth’s favourite newspaper seller turned 21 yesterday and was showered with gifts from motorists grateful for the smiling start he gives to their day.
Gelvandale resident Bradley McKenzie’s smile slipped a little as the generosity of the people who drive past him every day at the corner of William Moffett Expressway and Circular Drive brought tears to his eyes.
But his broad smile returned quickly as he took in all the surprise gifts. They included meal vouchers, cash, clothing, balloons and other items.
“My only dream for my birthday was to take my girlfriend, Kentia [Ryners], to KFC,” the humble Herald street seller said.
