A PROMINENT Port Elizabeth veterinarian has been taken to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) by an employee, allegedly after firing her because of her “outrageous hairdo”.
Joyce Snooks, 36, a dog washer at the 9th Avenue Veterinary Clinic in Walmer, claims her boss, Dr Charles Hayward, fired her because of her “banana dreadlocks”.
She claims another employee, dog groomer Iris Boma, 53, of Izinyoka, was also fired because she was unable to pick up Snooks’s workload because of illness.
But Hayward insists he sent Snooks home on Tuesday as her hairstyle was unacceptable.
