Patient sues after losing use of pinkie

A SERIES of mishaps, including a fall and alleged negligence by Livingstone Hospital casualty unit doctors, have resulted in a Port Elizabeth woman losing the use of her left pinkie.

Now Nicolene Helmey, 44, of Bloemendal, is suing health MEC Sicelo Gqobana for R690000.

She alleges doctors at Livingstone casualty failed to notice tendons in her hand had been damaged and simply stitched her cut.
