Jazz singer’s long battle for payment

A BUDDING jazz musician who provided entertainment for high-profile politicians including premier Noxolo Kiviet and former Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Zanoxolo Wayile is struggling to get paid nearly three years after the event.

She performed at an International Women’s Day event in New Brighton. A dejected and disappointed Titi Luzipo said she was approached by the Department of Arts and Culture on March 7 2011 with a request to perform at Nangoza Jebe Hall the following day.

She provided entertainment while Event Hire Network dealt with the sound but they submitted a combined quote of R25000 to the municipality.

Luzipo says she has been sent from pillar to post in a bid to get the money while government departments simply pass the buck.
