Festive season drive to fight crime

HANDING out nine police cars to beef up the fight against crime, Eastern Cape Safety and Liaison MEC Helen Sauls-August yesterday kicked off a campaign by the police to crack down on lawlessness this festive season.

Dubbed “Duty Calls Safer Festive Season Operations”, the campaign is aimed at getting communities active in the fight against crime as well as increasing police visibility.

As early as yesterday police across the province put up roadblocks which included stop-and- search routines in the Uitenhage, Mount Road and Motherwell clusters.
