Argentine coach kicks new life into valley’s soccer skills

A BUDDING initiative has brought a retired Argentine footballer to the Sundays River Valley to train farm workers and share with them some of the crucial lessons he learnt on the field.

The two-week soccer clinic ends today with a tournament in which more than 80 players – packers, pruners and general workers at San Miguel, Sundays River Citrus Company, Sun Citrus and Venco – are taking part.

Hernán Maisterra, who played for a number of clubs in Argentina and elsewhere in Latin America, is manager of the children’s activities committee in the Argentine second division.
