Fed-up about arrogance

ABOUT 250 Uitenhage and Despatch residents marched to the Uitenhage Town Hall yesterday where they demanded to have their own sub- council, saying they were fed-up with the “directionless” and “arrogant” leadership of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.

The crowd threatened to build shacks in the Uitenhage CBD if the municipality did not acknowledge their demands and chart a way forward within 14 days.

There to receive the petition on behalf of mayor Ben Fihla, who is in Tanzania on council business, was acting mayor Balu Naran, who did not receive a warm welcome.
