Doing NMMU proud

FORMER Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University students who have gone on to make names for themselves were last night honoured at a glitzy ceremony held at the Boardwalk Convention Centre.

The NMMU Alumni Awards saw leaders of multinational companies and other game changers in their respective fields receive awards for impacting the greater society through their work.

SABMiller chief executive Dr Alan Clark, who worked his way up the world’s second-largest brewery from a human resources officer in 1990, and Coca-Cola Company’s global head of intellectual property, Danise Lopes, who is now based in Atlanta, Georgia, were among those honoured for having “gone the distance and beyond in their various fields to the benefit of society at local, provincial, national and international level”. They received Alumni Achiever awards.
