Uitenhage girl powerlifts her way to Auckland

JUGGLING training and studies has earned a Uitenhage matric pupil a spot in the South African power-lifting team to compete in the Commonwealth Games in New Zealand in December.

Aluskha September, 18, of Brandwag High School, who came out tops in her under-52kg category at the South African Games two years in a row – has automatically qualified to compete in the Commonwealth Games in Auckland.

“This is not a local competition, it is the best in the world,” September said. “I will have to give it my all. I have set myself the goal of no less than gold.
