Contractors leave homes partly rebuilt

ENTIRE families are crammed into one-bedroom houses because contractors have demolished parts of their Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) homes in Walmer township as part of a rectification programme.

The rectification project has however been abandoned – apparently due to a lack of funds.

The contractors started fixing the RDP homes in early August, but renovations ground to a halt about two and a half months later allegedly because they were not being paid.
