Outcry over city speed humps

TRAFFIC “calming” measures are keeping Nelson Mandela Bay residents awake at night, causing traffic to back up and damaging vehicles.

Screeching tyres and loud thumps as cars go over newly installed rubber humps in South End and Westering are giving residents sleepless nights.

Unhappy motorists are also crying foul over the damage caused to their vehicles by the humps.

Broken car parts – including bumpers, wheel caps and undercarriages – littering the sides of Walmer Boulevard and Warbler Street are stark evidence of the hard knocks some vehicles are taking.
