VOTING in the Port Elizabeth city centre got off to a slow start yesterday as hundreds of older residents made their way to cast their ballots, while some bemoaned the apathy of the youth who were few and far between.

A total of 2439 out of 8664 registered voters made their mark yesterday, choosing a political party to represent them in council.

Special votes, which were carried out on Tuesday, totalled 38.

The DA, ANC and the UDM will know today which of them will control Ward 5. By 1am the results were still not through from the Lawson Brown voting station.
