Matrics walk into future by donating school shoes

AS THE school year draws to a close, the matrics of Alexander Road High decided to end it on a philanthropic note by donating their school shoes to those less fortunate.

More than 200 matrics donated their school shoes to pupils from Sakhisizwe High in Zwide.

The initiative was the brainchild of Siobhan Booysen, who was the deputy head girl in 2010, with the first donation taking place in 2011.

Since then each matric student who chose to, left their school shoes behind under their chairs after their valedictory assembly to be donated to a different school each year.
