School at a standstill on eve of final examinations

THE school management team (SMT) implemented at Molly Blackburn High School in KwaNobuhle last month to address issues of concern has not been at the school for nearly a week.

The school’s task team – established on September 16 as an alternative to the school governing body (SGB) which parents felt was not up to the task – was meant to meet with the SMT yesterday to discuss feedback on the 23 issues raised in a petition compiled by teachers in April. The SMT comprises the school principal and deputies.

But more than a month later, there has been no progress, task team chairman Sipho Nyanga said yesterday. “Nothing has been done.”
