A SENIOR manager at the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has gone on stress leave for a month as he faces allegations of soliciting a R10,000 bribe in exchange for inside information about a lucrative revenue collection tender.

An internal audit forensic report, which The Herald has seen, details how the assistant director at the budget and treasury department, George Meko, met Charles Goodrick, a consultant at Cape Town- based company Sales at Pay@ in 2011 and allegedly offered information that would help the company secure the contract.

According to the report, Meko met Goodrick at popular restaurant Angelo’s in Parliament Street in Port Elizabeth and asked for an initial payment of R10000 and more money once the company sealed the deal with the municipality.
