Guiding light to prostitutes

HER commitment to helping women and former prostitutes get their lives back on track has led to Nelson Mandela Bay woman Shelley Koekemoer being named a The Herald GM Citizen of The Year finalist.

Koekemoer’s job is not a glamorous one. As the head of Bet Sheekoom House of Restoration for women and children in crisis, with her husband Gary she has seen women go from prostitution and being addicted to drugs to earning an honest – and drug-free – living for themselves and their children.
