Vavi blasts critics

SUSPENDED Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi blasted his detractors yesterday, saying those fixated on seeing the back of him were ambitious newcomers with no history in the liberation struggle.
A visibly upset Vavi said his persecutors were trying to nail him for an infidelity he had apologised for when they did not even know how many wives or children they had.
He was speaking to about 300 municipal workers who marched to the Port Elizabeth City Hall yesterday to hand over a memorandum of demands to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's leadership.
