Jason Wood to have psychiatric evaluation

THE fraud case of alleged conman Jason Wood was postponed yesterday after the defence raised concerns about his mental state.

Wood, 40, who allegedly defrauded Nelson Mandela Bay residents out of about R1.4-million through a litany of schemes, made a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court where an additional 12 counts of fraud or theft were added against him.

His case was postponed to next month for the defence to obtain a psychiatric report after attorney Hans Bester said he had "certain doubts" about his client's psychological state.
