First prize for Framesby boy

HOËRSKOOL Framesby Grade 12 pupil and head prefect, Luan Staphorst, 18, is this year's winner of the Dr Derek Gray Memorial Award for the most prestigious project at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists Science Fair held in Johannesburg recently.
Staphorst received the Derek Memorial award for his project titled: "Insomnia, Music and Maths – are we on the same note?".
Staphorst said his research project looks into the effects of listening to various musical styles and genres on sleep patterns, cognitive functions and concentration abilities.
