Faculty to address demand


THE Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) is poised to become a major player in South Africa's health professional training and research, health faculty dean Professor Vic Exner said yesterday.


Outlining the university's plans to house the newest addition to the country's medical schools, Exner said the faculty was undergoing major restructuring and adding on new programmes to address the country's health needs.


Last week the university's council agreed to plans for the ninth South African medical school to start.
