Engineers to exchange ideas at Bay conference

MORE than 800 engineers from municipalities around the country will be in Nelson Mandela Bay later this month for a three-day conference to discuss best practices in the engineering field.

One hundred top Grade 11 maths and science pupils, from schools in the metro, will also spend an afternoon at the Institute of Municipal Engineering (Imesa) conference, where they will see a solar-powered car and an electric vehicle, as well as models of water treatment works and wastewater treatment works and 91 other exhibition stalls.

The conference will be a major boost for the local economy, with about R5-million expected to be spent in the Bay on accommodation and transport over the three days.
