Two Bay grans reach magical 100-mark

RACHAEL Gwennie Jozaffe and Ann Futcher live kilometres apart in Port Elizabeth but the two grandmothers have something special in common – they both turn 100 this week.

Jozaffe lives in Morningside while Futcher calls Algoa Park home.

And yesterday family and friends gathered at the Huis Genot retirement village in Algoa Park to celebrate Futcher's birthday.

Across the city in Onyx Street, preparations were already under way for Jozaffe's special day tomorrow.

Futcher was born to David and Susan Fourie in 1913 in the Willowmore district and Jozaffe was born to John and Alice Allison in Port Elizabeth.

During an emotional speech at yesterday's celebrations, Futcher's eldest granddaughter, Cheryl Allen, said she would always remember her granny's positive attitude.
