Holgate drives rhino charge


SOUTH Africa's renowned "king of the jungle", Kingsley Holgate, is leading the latest charge on rhino conservation awareness with an ambitious art project that aims to reach hundreds of thousands of pupils in the Eastern Cape and across the country.


Sporting his trademark beard, the larger-than-life explorer enthralled hundreds of pupils at Hendrik Kanise Combined School in Alicedale yesterday, where he launched the Eastern Cape leg of the project, entitled "Rhino Art – Children's Voices Be Heard".


Holgate, a famous author, adventurer, philanthropist and conservationist, had pupils and staff as well as management of Shamwari game reserve literally eating out of his hands when he promoted the concept of the project.
