Scores flock to Pityana's anniversary celebrations

FORMER political activist Barney Pityana celebrated 30 years as an ordained church minister at the weekend.

The celebrations, at the St Stephen's Anglican Church in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, were attended by more than 200 people including former Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) chairwoman Dr Brigalia Bam, former political prisoner and businessman Saki Macozoma, former president Thabo Mbeki's wife, Zanele, and the Reverend Dr Mvume Dandala.

Retired Archbishop of Cape Town Njongonkulu Ndungane, who enjoyed his consecration anniversary at the same church yesterday, also attended.

"Well done good and faithful servant. You have utilised the talents, gifts and skills given to you by God for the building up of the Body of Christ. We are all here to thank God for your lifelong partner Dimza for being alongside you as you share your life together with all its joys, opportunities and challenges," Ngungane said.
