Honour Biko, students told

DA LEADER Helen Zille yesterday drummed up support for next year's general election from students at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, urging them to "honour" slain anti-apartheid hero Steve Biko by voting for a party that would bring change to South Africa and future generations.

Zille was at the university to deliver the keynote address at the Steve Biko public lecture just days before the 36th anniversary of his death in police custody.

While she was a young journalist, Zille reported on Biko's death in 1977.

This was part of her party's Know Your DA campaign, which is aimed at educating the youth on the role DA leaders played in fighting apartheid.
