“GOD does not kill people, the devil’s evil work does.” These were the words of Warrant Officer Alain Walljee at the funeral of slain policeman Sergeant Willem Pretorius on Saturday.
Pretorius, 36, who was found murdered about a week ago, was given an official police funeral with the police marching band and a police escort.
About 300 mourners attended the service at the Victory Ministries International Church in Gelvan Park, where Pretorius was described as a “very popular” officer and a “real crime fighter” who was passionate about serving the community. Family members who were meant to speak became too emotional and withdrew at the last minute.
Police on Friday made a breakthrough and arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the murder. Police believe there is more than one suspect.
